Not an official holiday
Good Friday

Historical Context
Good Friday is not a statutory public holiday in Luxembourg, but it is treated as a bank holiday. Banks and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange close; schools, public administrations and shops remain open.
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Christ in Christian tradition. In Luxembourg it occupies a special position: recognised by financial institutions without appearing on the official statutory holiday list.
Many of the faithful attend church services, particularly the Stations of the Cross. Some families observe the tradition of a meat-free meal. Church bells remain silent from Maundy Thursday until the Easter Vigil.
